Kelly Neely Interiors

Kelly Neely Interiors, founded in 2021, is a full scale design firm in Birmingham, AL.  As an interior design graduate from the CIDA accredited design program at The University of Alabama, Kelly’s professional career began in 2017. Whether it be a room, an outfit, tablescape, and so on, combining elements to create something beautiful has always been her greatest passion.

As a result of her involvement on a multitude of residential projects, she has a vast knowledge of the furniture and design industry. While Kelly’s style can be found in all of her projects, she implements an intentional design process resulting in projects that enhance the design aesthetic of her clients and are equally beautiful and functional. She believes in the importance of function and practicality and that design is in the details. The full-service design studio offers residential design from floor plans and finish selections to furnishings, lighting and accessories.

In their words... get to know Kelly!

What are your three "must haves" in order to create an inviting space?

My first "must have" to create an inviting space would be something with a story - lamps you found at an estate sale, a painting that you had commissioned, a fabric that reminded you of one your grandmother had, etc. My second "must have" is a saturated color on a large piece of furniture or on the walls. My last "must have" is great lighting on dimmer switches.

What do you love most about including original art in your designs?

There is so much to love about original art in a space. For one, much like textiles, artwork can have a great impact in pulling the colors of a room together. I also love that when you’re buying an original piece of art, you’re not only buying something completely unique, but you’re also supporting a creative that is using God-given talents to bring beauty into the world.
Lastly, there is a lot to be said about the ability to work with an artist on a commissioned piece that is made specifically for a space - colors, size, composition are all completely tailored to the client’s needs.

What is your Dream Project?

I have been very blessed to work on some really beautiful homes and spaces with amazing clients. One type of job I have not had the opportunity to design is a restaurant and bar. I think that would be really fun.
I also joke that later in my career I would love to only design children’s spaces.  Playrooms, nurseries, bedrooms, etc. are always a place you can “let your hair down” and have lot of fun with pattern, color and whimsy.
