Walls of Wonder

Color and Pattern Play with Alexis Warren and Lily Chambers

Alexis Warren of Alexis Warren Designs

Two of our very favorite Charlotte, NC creative women are teaming up today with a mood board that has us dreaming of the perfect color and pattern pairings. TWCG's Alexis Warren created the mood board below inspired by NEW Well + Wonder Artist Lily Chambers’ release this week.

Lily’s collection of ten acrylic paintings explores traditional Southern folk art, quilting motifs, and the preservation of these designs through painting. Each painting is storied, comfortable, and undeniably happy.

It just so happens that Lily is also a textile designer, and Alexis has worked in the art world. These shared passions are evident in the board below - where both women don’t shy away from color OR pattern play.

Working in an art gallery, Alexis learned that every piece of art should start a conversation rather than blend into the background of a room. She incorporates art to create a layer of personality rather than just adding color. Below are her top three takeaways from incorporating Lily's work...

  1. I love how Lily’s paintings feature rich, bold hues that really pop against the paint selection. Many of my clients request saturated color pairings in their design projects.
  2. The mauve paint color (Sulking Room Pink by Farrow and Ball) brings new life to the touches of pink in the artwork.
  3. When selecting artwork, I looked for pieces with a larger scale like these that compliment the textiles I chose rather than compete.

There's nothing we love more than artists and designers collaborating, thank you Alexis and Lily for inspiring us today! As always, reach out HERE anytime with questions about what you've seen here!
