A key tenant of the Well + Wonder mission is to make original art accessible for all collectors, those who are seasoned art buyers and for those who are new to the game. Well, TWCG Member, Ivy Schuster of Hatcher Schuster Interiors values fall right in line with ours. A graduate of the University of Tennessee with a major in Interior Design and a minor in business, Ivy is an interior designer with a background in both corporate and residential design. As an art enthusiast herself Ivy believes in the importance of art curation and consultation in her design work. She helps clients navigate the exciting (and sometimes bewildering and overwhelming) art world, find that perfect piece to match their personality and walls, re-imagine existing works in their collection, and turns her clients spaces into enviable museum-worthy "galleries" that will have all the neighbors crying "where did you get your art!" It's magic and Ivy is essentially a fairy godmother of art! When Ivy let us take a peek into one of her most recent design projects that incorporated a full house art consultation we knew we wanted to share more with you.
For all of you still confused about art consulting (this was once us too!) Ivy so kindly broke down the process of her art consulting into four easy steps.
1. Understanding the layout of a client's house is integral to the art consulting process. Ivy asks that all clients send floor plans and elevations of their project as well as send any relevant information regarding interiors. Have a zoom call or meeting if close to the client (In Ivy's case those located in and around Birmingham) to understand the scope of the project and desired intent for art.
2. Pulling from her knowledge on the design industry and her connections in the art world Ivy provides a comprehensive proposal outlining anticipated needs for the project for all of Hatcher Schuster's services.
3. Presentation Day! Ivy and her team provide a highly detailed presentation that includes everything from floor plan mapping, art location, and scheming for the entire vision for her clients space.
4. Install! In our opinion (and anyone's for that matter) this is the best step. Once all of the artwork is approved, Ivy purchases the art for the client, professional installers hang, and the client enjoys the beauty of an art filled home for the rest of their days.
There's nothing we love more than artists and designers collaborating and making the art world an approachable place. Thank you Ivy for inspiring us today! Interested in art consulting? As always, reach out HERE anytime with questions about what you've seen here!
