I am so excited to introduce y'all to my friends Nan Jones (whom you already know as a Well + Wonder artist) and Meredith Covington who have started a new business venture together - Exposed: Art in The Elements. Obviously I love all things art and southern artists (which this involves both of), but just as importantly I love supporting fellow entrepreneurs on their journey to success and these ladies are paving the way in the outdoor decorative arts world. So just what is Exposed? I sat down with Nan and Meredith to learn more about their business and why they felt there was something missing in the market in regards to outdoor art and here is what I learned:
Exposed is a unique, custom-designed process developed for original art to withstand the outdoor elements.
Childhood friends Meredith Covington and Nan Jones (who now call High Point and Raleigh home) created Exposed, inspired by a love for the outdoors and yearning to complement the trend of outdoor living.
Realizing the void of existing outdoor art (which should not be defined by re-purposed wagon wheels/driftwood, or shipwrecked captain wheels), they determined that painted art should be moved outside as the perfect complement to defining the special outdoor space. (side note, yay for no more shipwrecked captain wheels!!)
Whether private residence, poolside, oceanfront home, or mountain cabin…these pieces are intended for those with an appreciation of both art and the outdoor environment.
And as you can see through scrolling through these images is that what has transpired are pieces with clean, fresh, and organic palette styles that will only enhance the beauty of your outdoor space.
And lastly when I asked Nan (the artist) to describe in detail how she creates her Exposed paintings she explained, "Each piece of art is painted on weather and break-resistant acrylic "canvases", using a weatherproof paint medium. These canvases are virtually unaffected by sun, extreme cold, salt water spray, and are heat resistant (-30 degrees to 200 degrees F). The weatherproof, aluminum standoff bolts are included with the purchase of each piece."
Well done, Nan and Meredith! We can't wait to see Exposed grow as art collectors begin to understand that original art doesn't have to just be saved for the interior of the home.
