Some key elements of a good photo are:

-The color of the animal's eye is visible 

-The animal is well lit, and ideally, there is directional light shining on one side of the face, and the other side of the face is more in the shadow.  This can be achieved by taking a photo beside a window, or outside in the morning or late afternoon.

-The photo is clear and not blurry
