We are so excited to officially welcome Lacey Craig tomorrow! Joining us from Memphis, Tennessee, Lacey is the latest artist to join the Well + Wonder team. She brings a vibrant energy to her work by utilizing a combination of acrylic paint and resin to create dynamic pieces. Her art is defined by vivid colors and playful patterns, resulting in compositions that are as energetic as they are beautiful. When she’s not painting, you’ll find Lacey on the tennis court, sharing life with her friends, and loving her neighbors in underserved communities. Lacey's personality radiates through this body of work, and we know that y'all will fall in love with her just as we have! Get to know this kind soul before her work loads onto our walls by reading her responses to our new artist interview below. And be sure to set those alarms for tomorrow at 10 am!

What is currently on your nightstand?
8-10 books that I’m either reading or thinking about reading and a photo with my friends on my 30th birthday trip to New Orleans.
Who is your biggest influence as an artist and why?
I’ve always been enamored with Matisse’s use of color, shape, movement, and scale. Any chance I’ve had to see his work in person, I have been absolutely in awe.
Tell us about your childhood. What is the most memorable moment as a young person?
I grew up in Longview, Texas. I remember my 10th birthday party being especially fun. We did a sock hop theme and had an Elvis impersonator sing and my grandfather taught us dances from the 50’s.
If you could only have one supply in your art studio, what would it be and why?
A tiny, thin brush for detail. I can’t function without one!
What is your favorite room in your house? Describe it.
I love my dining room. It is painted bright green with floral print curtains and a large wall of plates that cascade over the door frame. There’s a ton of natural light and a big mirror to reflect the light. This is the room where I went crazy with color, and it best represents my personal style.
What is your biggest score online?
I am a total bargain hunter. I can’t think of just one but I cannot resist a good coupon or stacking with a percent off.

What is the benefit of buying art through a collective? What do you recommend for those that are new to buying original art?
It’s the thrill of the hunt! You can see so many high quality, curated options represented through a collective, with new releases popping up all the time. Variety is the spice of life. For those new to buying art, I suggest really digging for pieces that you find to be beautiful or interesting. Look for what you love. You might be surprised by what lesser known or newer artists have for you to discover. Keep an open mind and keep exploring!
If you have the entire day to spend in an art museum, which one and why?
You can’t beat the Met! I love exploring new museums too, but you could go to the Met every day for a year and still not see everything. It is truly massive and they have a little bit of everything.
What is your favorite hotel and what makes it special?
Here in town we have The Memphian. It’s in a great location in midtown and is impeccably, brightly decorated. They have this fabulous top story bar called Tiger and Peacock which is like walking into a disco dream.
If you were a lipstick color would you be red, pink, or clear and why?
A glossy pink for me! I always try to be cheery, friendly, and approachable. Nothing too bold, but always bringing the fun.
I can never get on a plane without….
A book! I always seem to run out of time to read in my normal life, so I love the constraint of being on a plane or in an airport with nothing else to do.

How did you get into the world of art?
I’ve always been interested in creating. I remember loving art lessons as a child, and spending hours at home working on a tedious project. I later became interested in art history and enjoyed studying art on my own. Then as an adult I rediscovered my love for painting as a needed escape from a stressful career. Since then I haven’t looked back!
What do you do to relax?
I love moving my body. Going on walks or playing tennis are at the top of the list for leisure activities. I also live right next to the Overton Park Shell, an outdoor music venue here in Memphis. When they have concerts going on I adore sitting on the lawn and listening to whoever happens to be playing.
When do you get the biggest surge of inspiration?
I’m most inspired by seeing what others create! I love taking in museums and galleries, as well as seeing a person’s home and learning about their personal style through seeing their design choices or even their clothing choices. I feel so inspired by seeing other peoples’ creative expressions.
Prediction for the Color of 2026?
As a fan of bright colors I’m advocating for fuschia!
What is your idea of a date night? Dinner and a movie or dancing all night?
I’m not a movie person. I don’t like sitting still that long. I love trying a new restaurant and going out somewhere fun to live music.
Tell us about your favorite painting that you have created.
I’m very attached to my first larger scale painting. In fact it’s hanging in my dining room! It’s a big vase of flowers in a brushy, abstract style. I had been making these tiny, square, flower still lifes that I thought looked so cute. An art mentor encouraged me to go much bigger, and even gave me a big canvas she had that she wasn’t using. It was just the push I needed. I was intimidated to start but loved how it turned out.
One piece of advice for buying original art?
Collect what you love and don’t worry too much about what’s en vogue. If you love it you will always find a space for it in your home!
