Working with oil on canvas, Connor’s inspiration is rooted in the design found in nature. Utilizing painterly marks, line, and pattern she attempts to deconstruct these conventionally beautiful forms in order to create something new. Connor enjoys the juxtaposition of texture, the uncovering of light patterns, and ultimately the process of creating a harmony between recognizable forms and those that might have seemed too disparate to ever reconcile. Her hope is that the culmination of these techniques, the subtleties created with fine details and those formed through expressive gestures, will take residence within layers of paint, to create a complete composition.
