Christy works in the spare room of her third floor, sun-filled apartment. From her windows, she can enjoy the trees and sunset above the neighborhood, and the studio walls are organized with an abundance of fun materials from googly eyes to glitter for her art lessons with children.
Cut paper collage, oil paint, black ink.
Originally an eastern North Carolinian, Christy has also lived in Chapel Hill, DC, and now Nashville, working as a teaching artist with experience at the National Portrait Gallery, the NC Museum of Art, the Frist Art Museum, and several Montessori schools. She studied studio art and education at UNC-Chapel Hill, and also earned a master of education at Vanderbilt. Christy works with both oil paint and cut-paper collage, and her favorite subjects are still life, portraiture, and scenes from her travel photos. Her most popular pieces are custom portraits of people, homes, and pets, as well as her cheerful botanical collages.
