Samantha Stein Interiors

Samantha Stein Interiors is a residential interior design firm specializing in furnishings and construction. Samantha builds custom spaces and delivers curated, personalized and beautiful results with a strong emphasis on function. Her Nashville based studio works collaboratively, creating homes that reflect her clients’ personality, lifestyle and aspirations.

Known for her fresh, family-friendly interiors with an eclectic twist, Samantha is also a champion of the classic and timeless. She isn’t afraid to sprinkle a “collected” feel in each of her projects by incorporating antique pieces such as vintage art, textiles and rugs throughout.

To Samantha, interior design offers an opportunity to discover the true potential of a space. She loves the creative process and innate artistry involved in each project. Though she holds her work to the highest standard, Samantha also prides herself on connecting with clients in a natural, comfortable way. Her goal is to make every client feel empowered and included in the design process.

How did you get started in Interior Design? What is your background?

I have always had a knack for design! Ever since I was a young child I have been rearranging bedrooms and styling bookshelves for my friends. And consuming all the design magazines I could get my hands on. I get it from my mama. She has a degree in fashion design. I received my degree in interior design from the University of Tennessee - Knoxville before returning to Music City to grow my experience as a designer. I launched Samantha Stein Interiors in 2018 after honing my craft locally at both commercial and residential architecture firms.

How would you describe your design aesthetic?

Ever evolving! I would say I love classic design with a modern twist. I think it is so important to stick with the classics when it comes to hard finishes in a home, but so fun to add a pop of funk with throw pillows, drapery, artwork, etc. I tend to lean a bit traditional-eclectic. I want the homes I design to feel warm and inviting.

What do you love most about including original art in your designs?

That it's one of a kind. I always tell my clients incorporating original art makes a room feel more special. No one else has this piece! It adds so much visual interest to a space as well as texture. You just can't beat the real thing. I also always like to support real people. In this case artists! Buying original art is so meaningful.

Favorite thing about living in the south?

After the food? The hospitality! You can't beat southern people. I am so grateful for the community I have here in Nashville. As a native, I have a lot of cheerleaders, and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Plus I just love hot chicken too much to leave.

What is your favorite room in your own home?

My kitchen. It's old but so beautiful. I live in a 1960's ranch. The cabinets were custom back in the day, and painted white with antique brass hardware, and there's a marble island I found at our local antique mall in the middle. I love cooking and my kitchen is just so inviting and cozy. Definitely the heart of my home.

What are your three "must haves" in order to create an inviting space?

Natural light, lots of textiles, and deep seating.
