How did you get started in Interior Design? What is your background?
My mother was an Interior Designer, so I was fortunate enough to have grown up surrounded by beautiful interiors. As a kid, I would tag along with my mom to workrooms and vendor appointments. I loved hanging out in her office sorting and organizing the mounds of fabric and wallpaper samples. But it wasn’t until I moved to NYC after college that I realized my own passion for Interior Design. Before even signing the lease on my first studio apartment, I was already sketching floor plans and picking paint colors!

How would you describe your design aesthetic?
First and foremost, I would like to think my design aesthetic is client-driven. At SMI, we truly aim to create interiors that reflect each individual client based on their specific needs and lifestyle.

What is your favorite room in your house?
My Powder Room! When we renovated the house several years ago, I splurged on marble tile and countertops – even though it would mostly be used by my two young sons. I painted the walls dark and hung all my favorite art in there. I am continuously adding to the art and it now feels like a little jewel box! It makes me happy every time I’m in there. So, word to the wise….make the splurge!
